Camp Halim
During the summer of 2015, a one-week day camp was held at Villages at Franklin Crossing in Kent. Coordinated by ethnomusicologist Laurel Hurst and named in honor of Egyptian composer and Kent resident Halim El-Dabh, Camp Halim emphasized music-related activities. The camp was followed by weekly sessions incorporated into LoveLight's ABC's of Fun summer program as well as musical performances at the Kent Heritage Festival and other venues. This project was supported by Kent State University, the City of Kent, and the Ohio Arts Council.
